The MS SQL Development DBA will be responsible for maintaining and designing databases and troubleshooting related database code.

I.         Key Responsibilities

The DBA will work as part of a larger technology team that produces custom solutions for our various business units as well as the e-commerce platform.  This will include working closely with the development staff as well as the systems support staff. Daily operations include maintenance and trouble shooting of existing systems. This will require the ability to debug stored procedures, run database traces, and work closely with application developers and end users. You will also participate in designing of new database schemas and creation of different types of database objects including stored procedures, views, and indexes. You will be responsible for performance tuning and creation of database maintenance plans. You must also have strong report writing skills.

II.        Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science MIS, CIS, or related field or combination of work experience is required
  • Minimum 3+ years of designing databases using Microsoft SQL Server
  • Proficient in T-SQL query language and associated DDL
  • Proficient developing and maintaining databases using Microsoft SQL Server 2000-2008
  • Extensive experience with database management/monitoring, clustering, SSIS, query performance tuning and optimization in a high transaction environment are all required.
  • SQL Service broker and/or Analysis Services are both pluses.
  • Exposure to SQL Reporting Services, log-shipping, and replication not required, but helpful.
  • Knowledge in C#, Crystal Reports, and/or Microsoft Entity Framework a plus
  • Excellent in creating, functions, views, triggers and indexes
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing T-SQL code and Stored Procedures
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to achieve results within tight deadlines

III.        Problem Sloving & Decision Making

The database administrator will work on a variety of challenging and complex problems in a fast pace production environment; providing direct support to the application development teams as well as the database systems.
